Abstract

This study investigates the driving mechanisms of Chinese students’ foreign language learning motivation by reviewing the literature on the factors influencing Chinese students’ foreign language learning motivation. The research method is to search for relevant literature by using ‘Chinese students’ and ‘foreign language learning motivation’ as keywords, and then to categorise and analyse the retrieved literature based on the unifactorial, bifactorial, and multifactorial theories. Results: By integrating the results of studies under different theoretical models, it can be found that the driving mechanism of Chinese students' foreign language learning motivation is complex and is jointly influenced by a variety of factors. Conclusion: Future research needs to integrate the multifactor model to explore the changing law of motivation in depth and provide more effective guidance for teaching practice.
